Apparently only the Ford gears are made to the same tolerances as stock (duh!) which makes them easier to setup (I've heard the phrase any gear head with a wrench could do it)... with the other gear sets they have to be much more precise in the install to stop the noise but it CAN be done... it's just not as easy.

Only bad thing I know about FRPP is they don't make 3.90's... have to go 4.10s

what type of noise is it? a squeeling one or a squeeky one? i thought the otive ones were better since this site states they are better than FRPP or atleast they suggest them over FRPP

Especially with the price bump on FRPPs, I would recommend Motives for people. They are not made cheaper by any means, the same manufacturing expense goes into both gearsets.

If your mechanic knows what he is doing, and either of these are set up proper, there will be no whine in the gear. I put a 3.73 in my car, painted a came out with a relatively bad paint pattern, but decided to see how they sounded anyway, and they came out perfect, no whine at all.

The whine people talk about is usually mild. Especially if you have aftermarket exhaust, even if the gears are set up and have a mild whine, its beyond something you could hear.

I think the major selling point on the FRPPs is the peace of mind. They are certainly not a "superior" gear, but for XX dollars more, people don't need to listen to an explanation of which is recommended. We sell both, and there is even a little more margin of profit on the FRPPs, so I'm not trying to promote Motive to make more money. Its just an honest suggestion from us.
