Accufab Vs. C&L Plenum

Ding Ding Ding, Let the fight begin. I know they only sell Accufab here, But C&L Shows some mad gains on a car similar to mine. Can the Accufab TB REALLY be $100+ Better?

Accufab is dyno proven to have better horsepower gains. Check out this tb/plenum showdown...

Has anyone on here that has changed their throttle body and plenum feel it was worth the $300-$400 that they spent?? Im debating.

I ported and polished my old 5.0 mustang intake and got some gains, but a lot of work. I might just bust the die grinder out on my stock one and match everything up and open it up a bit.

I always feel a mod is worth it when I am done! (lol)

Let the truth be told, that this combo will net you 10 rwhp in the bank. That comes at a cost of $30 - $40 per hp which is about the price of many mods. More than some (nitrous, some X pipes, and pullies), but less than others (heads, cams installed, etc...). It is no steal, but money well spent. You also will have a much better throttle response.

Getting the accufab with a 75mm TB is setting yourself up better in the long haul when you want to add a power adder. Remember that when putting mods on your car, "What will this do down the road when I get this or that". Play the what if game and see if it is worth it. Getting Accufab might have more horses drawn than C&L when you add a super charger. Not a fact since I have not seen dynos with these when a super charger is added.

Also accufabs chrome makes a nice bling bling to your car. :brushteet

Wow that really helps! lol But it comes down to like 100 bucks between the C&L and the accufab...Sure wish the C&L was just as pretty! lol and that with a accufab 75mm TB

On a side note... i wanted to thank eveyone for the polite answers and not talkin down to me like Ive seen on other sites. So yeah THANKS

Ive got the 70mm tb/plenum and i really like it. It REALLY pulls after 3000 rpm. A great buy IMO.

I went with the trickflow, (only cuz a buddy sold it to me for 50 bucks) but I wouldn't pay an extra 100 bucks for 3-4 hp. With that extra 100 you can buy something else that will give you more than 3 hp.

I went with the Accufab it really pulls after 3000 rpm and it also has the looks. But it has been proven to produce more. SO spend the extra money for a quality product

I went with the Accufab 75 mm T/B and plenum. After installation I test drove the car and after a warm-up I took off in 1st, banged second and the car went sideways :toothy12: It never did that before.Plus, the polish on the Accufab parts is very good. The downside is now I have to get other parts chromed or polished to match,or paint the Accufab parts.

Stevoneo 02-14-2005 02:23 PM

I am getting the accufab and 75mm TB. First for the performance and for the Venom Nitrous kit that I am getting. Yes it will be chrome, However, I am putting a Shaker Ram Air Intake on my Stang as well. So the Chrome plenum and TB will not be seen as much.

But one will buy what he or she wants, and all to his own as the saying goes.

Like I have said before, look ahead at what you will do with your car and what will benifit most for you and that will be what you want and need to buy. Also if you dont have the dough, that factors in as well. :icon_thum

There is really almost no difference between any of the brands. I have the C & L with an Accufab 75mm. I really didn't feel any seat of the pants gains but I did trap 1-1.5 higher than I did with my stock unit ported and polished so it did help. I wish the polished Accufab was out when I got mine, it looks alot nicer than my C & L. Good luck and enjoy whatever you end up with.

The accufab is polished giving it like 2 hp more over the c&l. I have a c&l which i polished myself.

the above website has a great comparison article on plenums. the accufab plenums wins the dyno comparison. accufabs throtle body also offers better quality and driveabilty than the bbk. I returned my cl plenum and bbk tb after reading this article.

There have been several shoot outs in mags. There really is almost no difference in performance between the units. Expect about 6-8 rwhp on a near stock car and 8-10 in a modded car. The accufab is polished on the outside for apperance not performance. It looks real nice. If I could do it all over again I'd go with it just for the better apperance.

RedLineCrazy 02-16-2005 02:17 AM

accufab is polished on the inside to. its smooth like a babys a$$. My C&L was all gritty till i smoothened it out. Now its just like an accufab.
