Default Thinking of getting 3.73 fears for my Stang

Car has 50,000 miles and is a 2002 and I am wondering if I will need to get the seal kit or if buying the gear will be just fine. I know they recommend the kits for higher mileage cars but did not know if 50,000 would be considered high mileage.

50k is higher mileage, its in your best interests to get a bearing kit. go with a full install kit, not the mini-kit. also its a good idea to change the axle bearings while its all apart. you can pick those up at any auto parts store, make sure you get the grease seals as well.

No way I am planning on doing this myself just trying to get everything I need to make them go before I take it to get them done.

fyi, i was in the same boat not to long ago...I wanted 3.73 gears..i went with 4.10 and im glad i did. after having 4.10's I dont think 3.73's would've made that much difference. IMO go with 4.10's, and if you want motives, go to www.agearworks.com and get a motive package, its $220 for gears and a full timken bearing install kit, shipping is about $26, but timken bearings are top of the line and well worth it.
