sounds like the oil pan gasket didnt seal. and the dipstick did you use the 87 one? Try the 76 one. I know that the sn95 dipsticks are diffrent from the fox cars.

Does the other dipstick look any better?
You need the dipstick to match the pan, and the dipstick tube is probably different also, but as long as you've got the spare parts, just swap them all out.

Where is it leaking?

it's leaking from the rear main seal. i don't have the dipstick or tube from the 87. do you know where the dipstick is located on the block or in the timing cover. the one i have now is in the timing cover

hmm that poses a problem, I'm pretty sure the later model 302's had the dip tube in the block, Do you know if your block has that hole? If its there, I'd hope it has a plug in it.
If it does, your best bet would be to get a late model dip stick and tube. LRS has them for like $25.

dipstick on a 5.0 mustang is driver side about the third tube on the header back. You will have to get the right dipstick or change the oil and put 5 quarts back in it, pull the dipstick and see where it comes to on the stick. dont start it or move it at the point of checking it. where ever the oil level is on the stick that is full. scratch it right above the oil mark on the stick. that is full. as far as the rear main goes, looks like you are taking out that tranny. take it from personal experience, get that fixed asap. you loose the rear main seal and bye bye stroker.
