Help with new wheels and tires
Please help, I just bought and recieved new wheels and tires from American muscle and I don't think they fit. I have a 1999 Mustang v6. I bought 18*9 rims for the front with 275/35*18 tires, I bought 18*10 rims for the back with 285/35-18 tires. The back tires fit fine but the inside of front tire bumps up against a verticle bar or rod when the wheel is turned sharply. American muscle says these wheels and tires should fit just fine. The car has not been lowered and is stock as far as I can tell. Any insight, advice, or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Crusty

Because of the wideness of the front tires your going to rub up against your fender a little. Just don't turn your wheel all the way to the left/right. Problem solved.

It's not the fender
It's not the fender that it rubs against. It hits some kind of bar on the inside if the wheel. It is the bar that runs up and down, I'm guessing it is part of the sway bar system or some sort, thanks.

In short, that can happen when you go wide in the front. If it bothers you you can get rack limiters. If you want them here is a link http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/item/LRS-N804842S

just want it safe
Thanks for the replies. This is my son's vehicle and I just want it to be safe. So are you telling me this is normal after adding wider tires and wheels and it is safe? If so, I will order the rack limiters and install them. Thanks again for your help, Crusty

i have 18x9,10 saleens on my car.. 255 45 and 275 40. I have a higher profile than urs and i get rub as well,, generally making left turns. Its okay. Previously i had 20's that would rub the frame.due to offset issues etc.

The tire is more than likely only coming into contact with the sway bar. It isn't a big deal and most guys just learn to live with it. It isn't really dangerous because the swaybar isn't sharp and won't cut the tire, also it is only going to contact at low (parking lot) speeds. If it still bothers you or your son then just get the rack limiters. You may need more than one on each side depending on how much clearance you need.

Thanks
Ok great, I really appreciate the information as even the local tire shop said they did not fit. I think american muscle should inform people of what to expect when purchasing this tire and wheel size. We are going to put them back on and run them. By the way, they do look great. Thanks again, Crusty. I
