Kenne Bell Supercharger!

I was just looking for prices on the Kenne Bell website, and noticed that that intercooled superchargers are more expensive then the non-intercooled ones, Now my questions is, What is the difference if u get a non-interchoold vs intercooled? Whats the difference between them 2?

You'll be able to run more boost which in turn will make more power than a non-intercooled setup. Might as well do the intercooled version now, than having to tear it all apart to upgrade later on.

If i go and do intercooled im gonna want to run a good bit of boost 10-11 psi! am i going to have to build the bottom end in my engine? or will it handle the boost?

stanger00 05-14-2007 06:57 AM

KB's 9 psi kits seem to push close to 400 horsepower and thats about as much power as the stock short block can handle.

03_GT 05-14-2007 07:02 AM

So if i wanna push more than 400hp then im gonna have to buid a engine?

swervo 05-14-2007 07:10 AM

Yes, you'll need to build the motor. You can possibly go as high as 420rwhp, but that's pushing it.

03_GT 05-14-2007 07:21 AM

Ok, Im gonna want more than 420rwhp. Thanks for the help, Im look and prices on some new engines, possible buit ones instead of me building one!

good choice man! They are one of the top mod engine builders out there. How much HP are you looking to get? If your planning to push more than 500, you might as well get a KB 2.6 or 2.8.

Yeap get the bigger KB. One thing to consider is that the KB gives you alot down low so look into a new tranny as well as other supporting parts as they will not last long. You can build your motor then rear end and tranny in prep for the KB or you can run lower boost until you can get all those things done. Im getting my SC done now and know that the tranny is next since Ive done everything else.

I want alot more than 500hp, but its gonna take awhile, but its a project for when i move down to Orlando Fl, Since im going to UTI down their!

If you want more than 500hp, the long block would have to be upgraded, transmission and clutch, and rear end. You'll also need a good suspension setup and tires so you can at least get some traction.

say if you get the intercooled setup.. and dont plan on upgrading your engine anytime soon what PSI would be safe to run it at?

will that be a lot of wear and tear on your transmission etc.. or does it depend on how hard and often you run it hard?

Well 9 psi is the standard boost level that Kenne Bell gives you when you order a intercooled kit. As for wear and tear, depends on how you drive and how well you maintain your car. Things will break though, it's unavoidable.

I just recently installed a KB charger on my 00gt! Currently I am running 6 psi intercooled (cause I live in a desert) and as soon as I make some suspension changes (traction issue) I'll put the 9psi pulley on. Imo it was a great investment. So far Brakes/suspension/tires are my biggest concerns right now and until I blow my engine 9psi is where I'll stay at. :moreboost:

dude, dont waste your cash on short tube headers!!! get long tubes, way better, short tubes are just like a little lighter stock manifolds!!
