Injector Intall

Anyone have a good tech article on installing injectors in a 4.6? I'm ready to install FRPP 24# injectors...looks pretty easy to do but I never did a set of injectors before. Any suggestions?

unplug from harness, remove. lightly oil o-ring, replace. Connect harness. Enjoy.

Make sure you either bleed the pressure off the system at the schaeder valve (if equipped) or have a rag handy to clean up any spilled fuel.

When I did mine, I had a shop vac to vaccum all the dirt out around the injectors, so no dirt would fall in.

I thought it was pretty much that simple. I don't think my 02 is equipped with the schrader valve....I was wondering about relieving the fuel pressure in the line. Thanks for the responses.

You like me don't have a schraeder valve so just accept that some fuel will spill and try to keep it cleaned up. I usually grasp the fuel rail at one end, support it in the middle and firmly but gently and steadily pull straight up. They're only held in with little rubber o-rings so there's not a lot to overcome.

Yeah, I figured I was gonna spill some gas. I was actually just checking out an article that suggested popping the fuel pump shut-off switch and then running the car until it stalls. That's a creative way to get the pressure of out the line....not sure if I like that idea too much though. Think I'll stick with the rag method.
