Unusual noise started after exhaust install

I put in one of the SSS systems that AM sells 2 weeks ago and since we put it in, I'm getting a buzzing noise that raises and drops with engine speed. It only happens when the radio is on? I can't think of anything we did that would cause this type of interferance? Is it the stainless exhaust or am I destined to drive with to music?

Only thing I can think off is you might need to adjust your CB.It's probally contacting something or need's tightened.

You think it's rubbing and the rubbing is causing the noise? It seems to only come on when the radio is on, like electrical interference. Very frustrating. I have the factory Mach system and it won't so it when you first turn on the radio, there's a delay of about 2 seconds until the amps kick in, then the humming starts.

Thats weird. Shouldnt have anything to do with the exhaust. But check your upper control arms and make sure the c/b isnt hitting it. Make sure the suspension is loaded while doing this.

As for the radio, mess with the settings and set each speaker on individually (front rear, left right side) and maybe thatll help figure out the noise.

LOL... i think i know EXACTLY what yer talking about.

its like this wierd "Whirrrrrrrrrr" kinda noise right? rev the engine and the pitch raises with the radio right?

Something is wrong with yer wiring. i bet it is coincidence. probably nothing to do with the SSS.

Next time you hear it and you have time, pull over and keep the car on. Kick the kick panels, smack the doors, smack the area near the rear speakers. yer listening for it to shut off. Once you found the panel that makes the noise go away, check all the wiring in that area.

Mine does it.

I can damn near start it and shut it off by kicking the doorside interior panel on the drivers side next to my feet.

anytime it starts, i just whack it with my foot a couple times and it goes away.

I need to pull that panel off as well as the door panel and check all the wiring, but ive been lazy. those door panels are a pain in the ass to deal with.

That's exactly it, it's a whirring noise. I hate chasing electrical issues. Guess I'll start banging and kicking.

When I put my flows in way back when, we were real conscientous about making sure there was clearance everywhere, then when we dropped the car, we realized the CB rubbed the axle tubes. This time, we were sure to make sure it was loaded and still cleared everything. All in all, through all the install pains, I really like the SSS exhaust. The mufflers are aging a bit now (after 2 weeks) and it's slightly louder than it was and very enjoyable. I rarely listen to the radio anyway. I have a 5 mile commute to work and usually just enfoy the engine noise but I start a new job in Jan and I will get caught in traffic a little more and the radio would be nice (without the whirring noise). Sounds like the exhaust was just a red herring and I have a whole seperate issue.

as silly as it sounds it may be your cell phone. B/c when i turn on the radio the waves interfear with each other and I have to put my phone away from the radio. And sometimes when i get a call it would go crazy. IDK just a thought

I just love when you have the cell phone sitting on the shifter bezel and get a text, the radio lets you know it is coming due to the interference from the phone. I agree with everyone. I think the noise is electrical and not the exhaust. I have a noise where it rattles when the vehicle is under load, but I am pretty sure mine is from the fine city I live in contracting the cheapest and dumbest to repave the roads, left a big chunk of asphalt in the road I couldn't avoid and it hit the right side cat thus busting the ceramic insde. :postwhore:
